MAY REFLECTIONS

MAY REFLECTIONS

by Caylie Warkentin

Dear readers,

We hope that you are enjoying the welcoming warmth of spring and the extra light (we're approaching the longest day of the year which has 16 hours and 15 minutes of sunlight!).

This May we celebrated the mothers, nurturers, and caregivers in our lives, and we remain committed to supporting local women creatives in our Vancouver community through conversations and features on our blog.

We had the pleasure of sitting down with fellow Vancouver creative Chihiro Uki of Potteruki who crafts seaside-inspired pottery. She spoke to us about how the ocean and local shell species feature in her work and how the pandemic has impacted her art.

To be the first to receive our newsletter with local happenings and finds, remember to sign up for our mailing list (plus receive 20% off your first order!). Sign up here.

Warmly,
ARALEA BEAUTY

A conversation with Chihiro Uki of Potteruki on her ocean-inspired work, her exploration into miniature pottery, and how the pandemic inspired and shaped her art.

June is a time of lush gardens and air sweetened with the soft scent of blooms. From June 3 to 12, Fleurs de Ville is treating Vancouver to a spectacular floral display in which local florists create elaborate works of art using fresh flowers.

Their theme, FEMMES - a collection of trail-blazing women throughout history, presents inspiring life-size floral arrangements.

We're approaching the longest day of the year - June 21st, which will offer exactly 16 hours and 15 minutes of sunlight. Summer Solstice is a time when the sun is farthest north in the Northern Hemisphere and when many cultures around the globe celebrate this moment of the sun's apex.
